Tothe front side of the T-pipes are attached eleven headercastings (Plate 129), the joints being made with copperwire gaskets. 286 SUPERHEATED SUPERHEATED STEAM. 287 Each header casting is also subdivided into two com-partments, in this case by a vertical partition, and five pipesor flues of one and one-sixteenth inch outside diameterare inserted through holes in the front wall of eachheader. These one and one-sixteenth inch tubes are ex-panded into special plugs, which are firmly screwed intothe vertical partition wall, and the five tubes are enclosedby five one and three-fourths inch tubes, which are ex-panded into the rear wall of the header casting in theusual way. Each nest of two tubes is encased by a regularthree-inch boiler tube; which is expanded into the frontand back tube sheets in the usual manner. The back endof each one and one-sixteenth inch tube is left open,the back end of each one and three-fourths inch tube isclosed, and the back ends of both tubes are located at apoint about thirty-six inches forward from the back fluesheet.
