In the 2022 fiscal year, Hotel Volk hosted more than 238 units for more than 60,000 bednights. Maj. Gen. Wilkening retired after 38 years of service to this state and nation. He was widely respected for his strategic vision, which — combined with his focus and drive — laid the foundation for Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center to provide capabilities as the premier Air National Guard training facility in a rapidly evolving global environment. Maj. Gen. Wilkening was highly respected throughout the entire National Guard community and was often a by-name selection to serve on a wide range of councils and committees.
