Prehistoric whale skeleton

Prehistoric whale (Dorudon atrox) skeleton. This extinct basilosaurid whale was found in warm seas worldwide around 40 to 41 million years ago during the Eocene epoch. It was a medium-sized whale that grew up to five metres in length. The basilosaurids are thought to have been the first fully aquatic cetaceans, with forelimbs that had become paddle-like flippers and rudimentary hindlimbs.
