IBM 7030 computer. Operator at the console of an IBM 7030 computer (STRETCH) at the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory at Livermore, California, USA. This computer was IBM's response to the LARC (Livermore Advanced Research Computer) built by Remington Rand. The IBM 7030 provided the largest memory for any computer then in use at the Laboratory. It was delivered here in March 1961. This site, founded in 1952, would by 1980 be known as the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
