Forced labour prisoners from the Buchenwald concentration camp building the Weimar-Buchenwald railroad line. Buchenwald and its 139 sub-camps were forced labour camps not death camps and there were no gas chambers there. However poor conditions, abuse and executions led to 56500 deaths there. It liberated by the US Army on the 11th April 1945. The photo is dated 16th April 1945, five days after the camp was freed by the US Army.
