Ilis father, a hair-dresser in the Kuedu Bac, number .57, married a milliners assistant, who worked at number 1, nearthe Pont Royal. Two years after the birth of Camille, Madame Corot took overthe millinery business, and with such success that under Napoleon I. Corot becamecourt milliner. He sent his son to the high school at Rouen, and afterwards appren-ticed him to a linen-drapers establishment.
