Memorial to Josef Grimm and Georg Hangl in the grounds of Kirche St. Michael, Göttingen, Bavaria, Germany.

"On 28 April 1945, Josef Grimm, pastor of Götting and Georg Hangl, teacher of Götting, were shot by SS-soldiers because they replaced the swastika flag on the church-tower for the flag of Bavaria, one day before the change of power in Bavaria. The SS banned an honorable burial. On 3 May 1945, two days after the American advance, they were buried under great interest on the churchyard of Göttingen. Since 22 March 2009 stands at the churchyard this memorial, which commemorates them." Traces of War
