A German knightly sword,circa 1100 Robust double-edged blade with a wide central fuller on both sides,extending over nearly its full length. Residual traces of a blade inscription inlaid on one side of the forte. Extended quillons of square cross-section. Large,slightly tapered tang with a broad Brazil-nut shaped pommel. Cleaned and conserved excavation find. Length cm. Very well preserved medieval sword.
