Plants on Hadrian's Wall in summer. Grass is seen growing on top of the wall, and foxglove plants (Digitalis purpurea, purple) are seen next to it. The 118-kilometre-long wall was built from 122 AD at the order of the Roman Emperor Hadrian, and was intended to defend Roman Britain from the Picts to the north. Photographed in Northumberland National Park, England.
