Plants on Hadrian's Wall in summer. Grass is seen growing on top of the wall, and foxglove plants (Digitalis purpurea, purple) are seen next to it. The 118-kilometre-long wall was built from 122 AD at the order of the Roman Emperor Hadrian, and was intended to defend Roman Britain from the Picts to the north.
