One morning about four oclock AH-NI-GHI-TOS mother came on deck to lookaround, when just alongside, on quite a largecake of ice she saw a beautiful snow-white had been swimming about in the hope offinding a seal or two for his breakfast, and com-ing to this cake of ice, thought he would getup on it, stretch his legs, and get a nice drinkof water. The man on the ^lookout had been lookingat ice and water in the glaring sunshine for solong that he had failed to notice the bear whowas just the colour of the ice on which it stood,and so it was that AH-NI-GHI-TOS motherwas the first one to see it, and call
