Cornhusker State Industries run and oversee many of the various work programs for inmates in all of Nebraska's 10 state prisons. Everything from minimum security work release inmates to convicts in the supermax prisons. Having something meaningful for inmates to do reduces the risks of inmates causing problems on the inside. It can also be a big step on the way for an inmate that are about to be released to learn the fundamentals on how to hold down a job, hence being able to stay out after release and in doing so reducing recidivism.
