Ablution area at the Sunna Mosque, the biggest Mosque in Rabat, Morocco

Rabat's most important mosque was built in the 1960s, but because it was designed in a traditional Maghrebi style, it was sheltered from the architectural anarchy of the time and remains beautiful and dignified today. In their day the French wanted to extend Avenue Mohammed V through this site, but the Moroccans resisted, and thanks to the martyrs of that confrontation, the mosque stands here on the site of an earlier one.
