JKXSKX, Jens !ver, Bishop of El-.^inore Ward, Sevier county, is the sonof Thomas C. Jensen and Karen MarieIvi^-rsen. and was born in Jerslev, Hjor-ring amt, Denmark, Aug. 8, 1846. Hewas baptized June 5, 1861. by ElderNiels Moitensen, and ordained an ElderApril 24, 1864. In 1865 his parents,having acepted the gospel, emigratedto America, taking their young children BIOGRAPHICAL ENCYCLOPEDIA. 819 with them. Jens remained in Den-mark, where he labored as a mission-ary in the Vendsyssel conference tillJune, 1867, when he emigrated to He married Ing-er Jensen, a young ladywhom he had baptized into the Church,prior to leaving for America. Theycrossed the plains with ox-teams andarrived in Salt Lake City Oct. 5, Jensen located in Ephraim, San-pete county, wliere he lived for a num-ber of years and then moved to Rich-field, Sevier county. Later, he becameone of the first settlers of Elsinor-e. In1880-82 he filled a mission to Denmark,where he labored in the Aarhus confer-ence, part of the time as president ofthe same. Elder Jensen has always beenan active worker in the Church, andsince November, 1887, he has presidedas over the Elsinore Ward, ofSevier Stake of Zion.
