The Palisades of the Hudson 37 Hudson Heights, just below Cliff side, the magnificent HudsonCounty Boulevard follows the edge of the cliffs. From Cliffsideto Fort Lee an excellent road runs some distance back of thecrest. From Fort Lee to Alpine a macadam highway traversesthe woodland a short distance from the cliff line, continuingfrom Alpine to Piermont, as an ordinary country road. In Revolutionary times a military road was constructed be-tween Snedens Landing and Fort Lee, running for a few milesclose to the cliffs. Traces of this road can yet be seen, espe-cially along the northern portion of its course.
