I was so deeply movedthat I could scarcely speak, but I prayed inwardly. On the 1st of January 1847 I fell ill of fever, whichlasted three weeks, during which time I resolved to keepthe anniversary of the arrival of the first ProtestantBishop (Alexander) in Jerusalem as a day of prayer andthanksgiving, not only for our community on MountZion, but for all believers everywhere who take an interestin the welfare of Jerusalem, the conversion and restora-tion of Israel to the covenant of God with His people,and the blessing which will follow for all nations.
