The allusion inSolomons Song iv. 1,2; vi. 5, mayapply exceedingly well to this species ;and Shulzea assures us that he sawflocks of these goats descending fromthe mountains in the vicinity of Acreand Caesarea. Of Wild Goats there is frequent mention in the Scriptures. We presume that the namesthere employed refer to the two species whose existence in Palestine, Edom, and Sinai hasbeen ascertained. These are the Ibex and the Kebsch. It happens that these two are alsothe only wild goats figured on the Egyptian monum
