Skin epidermis papilla cross sections, light micrograph

Light micrograph of skin papilla cross sections. The papilla are finger-like projections of the skin epidermis into the underlying dermis. Here, they appear as circles since they are cut in horizontal cross sections. The cells making up the epidermis are squamous cells with polygonal borders and round nuclei. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: 200x when printed at 10cm.
