They are done in several styles,in India ink, pen and ink, and some are more or less finished as miniatures. Tbe two whichare here presented are facsimilies of what appear to be the original pen and ink sketches, for acouple of highly finished portraits of Dr. and Mrs. Stiles which appear in the collection;and have been preferred to the latter on account of their greater and and extreme delicacy ofoutline.
