Hands of Indian widows celebrating Holi in Vrindavan, India

WIDOWS OF VRINDAVAN Abandoned by their relatives after the death of their husbands, they are thousands to have come to Vrindavan, a pilgrimage town in Uttar Pradesh, a hundred kilometers away from Delhi. They are Hindu, of all ages and castes, coming mostly from West Bengal or Orissa. They try to continue their lives in one of the ashrams of Vrindavan, knowing that they will never return home. Dressed in white, they live in communities and worship Lord Krishna.
