Roses of all varieties are a glut and all the wholesale houses have a large supply, with the top price not over $6 per hundred. The extra fancy sorts are not so plentiful as those of the lower grades. There are great quantities of carnations, the bulk of them good flow- ers, but short-stemmed. Enchantress, Beacon and White Wonder are the choice stock. Prices are low on these also, owing to the big supply; $2 per hundred is the price for extra choice stock. California violets are not selling well, on account of their short stems and pale color. The weather has been too warm for them during the last week. Thirty-five cents per hundred is the best price on them in small lots. There is still a big cut of cosmos and dahlias, but the returns from them are poor. Easter lilies have been scarce of late, but valley is plentiful and of extra good quality, with the usual prices. From reports, the retail trade was only fairly good last week, though some firms had heavy funeral orders to work up. Various Notes. Julius Dilloff, representing Schloss Bros., New York, and Tim Waters, rep- resenting Poehlmann Bros. Co., Chicago, spent a few days here last week. President Fred H. Weber, of the Florists' Club, has appointed Robert Windier, Carl Beyer and Conrad Berg- stermann as a publicity committee. They will hold a meeting and report to the Florists' Club at its next meeting. President
