27th August 1912 - The funeral of the Englishman 'General' William Booth founder of the Salvation Army (originally an evangelist Methodist preacher) . The funeral took place after lying in state at Clapton Congress Hall 150,000 people filed past his coffin. The funeral service was held at London's Olympia, 40,000 people attended, including Queen Mary, who arrived incognito.
