Sedona, Arizona is a small city in the northern Verde Valley, straddling the line between Coconino and Yavapai counties. It is famous for the red sandstone formations that encircle the town. They glow a brilliant red and orange at sunrise and sunset. Many people claim the existence of psychic vortexes which supposedly encompass swirling energy, offering healing and uplifting feelings. Pink Jeep Tours offers various tours on rugged off-road adventures showing off Sedona's red rock formations. We took the Broken Arrow Tour following a trail through Coconino National Forest. After months of cloudless skies in Arizona (with heat to match), this day we encountered partly cloudy skies — sometimes almost totally overcast, sometimes almost totally clear. But the temperatures were reasonably comfortable as we began our exploration.
