A portrat of Major General (Lieutenant General) Charles Edmond Knox ( 1845-1938) of Boer War fame; as he was in 1900. He was an Anglo-Irish soldier of the British Army. Hs nickname was Nice Knozx. His commands included the King's Shropshire Light Infantry, 13th Infantry Brigade & 4th Infantry Division. He was offered the post of Governor of Bermuda, but declined it and became a member of the Naval and Military Club. He was the son of Robert Knox, DD, Archbishop of Armagh
