The 18th-century Rococo city palace Hotel Falligan (1755) in Ghent, Belgium

Hotel Falligan is a classified and authentic city palace, built in 1755 on the medieval foundations of the former "Steen". The construction of this hotel was an idea of Hector-Gabriel-Joseph Falligan, from a noble family from the region of Anjou (around Angers, Pays de la Loire) in France. In 1746 this nobleman married the wealthy Jeanne Agnes Deprestre, and together they built this beautiful building. The marriage remained childless and the building was sold publicly in 1804 to the current owner, the 'Royal Literary Society', or in short "Club Falligan". The immaculate condition of the building is partly due to the fact that there were only two owneers during its 250 years history. As a result, the original rococo style decoration and all of its furniture have remained in an immaculate condition.
