A template ofthe base was first made, and then a concretefoundation made four feet three inches longhy three feet six inches wide by one footsix inches high, with the holts set in throughit and two feet into the floor ofthe allowed the fly wheels to turn outside ofthe base at a distance of six inches from thefloor. After the engine was set on this founda-tion, grout was forced in under it and it wasthen bolted down to make it absolutely allowing this to set for some days, thefly wheels were bolted and keyed into position. The water for cooling was tapped from thecity mains, the pressure of which forces thewater through the water jacketing and out intoeither of two tanks set on scales, for determin-ing the amount used.
