A heavy hewing sword,German,ca. 1720. Ridged,double-edged,somewhat nicked blade with a Pi mark struck on one side. Brass hilt with symmetrical shell guards,knuckle-bow and thumb ring. The grip wound with brass wire,spherical pommel. With corresponding brown leather scabbard with interior brass fittings,broken lower reverse section. Length 102 cm. Possibly the forerunner of the famous cuirassier sword model 1732.
