Kırkpınar (Turkish Oil Wrestling). Kırkpınar wrestlers attend the Friday prayer (Jumu'ah) beside other Muslim men in the Selimiye Mosque (Selimiye Camii) in Edirne, Turkey. The congregational prayer in the Selimiye Mosque marks the beginning of the 648th annual Kırkpınar Tournament on 2 July 2009. The annual tournament in Turkish oil wrestling traditionally starts with the Friday prayer in the Selimiye Mosque designed by Ottoman imperial architect Mimar Sinan and built between 1568 and 1575.
