South Yorkshire,UK. 24th Oct 2012. The M1 has been closed in both directions in due to a chemical spill, according to the Highways Agency. South Yorkshire Police said that the Motorway has been closed between junction 32 at Thurcroft and junction 33 at Catcliffe after a lorry spilled its load at around 10:30 BST. The link from the M18 southbound to the M1 northbound has also been closed. The Highways Agency said the chemical was not thought to be toxic and a clean-up had begun.
