He began service with the Pennsylvania atCrcstlin, Ohio, in 1878. His first appoint-ment on the Union Pacific was that ofnundhouse foreman at Salt Lake serving this company for a numberof years Mr. Ogden was made generalforeman of the Kansas City, Pittsburgh& Gulf at Kansas City. Later he wentwith the Mexican Central in Mexico, onwhich system he filled a similar positionand later on that of master mechanic. Onreturning to this country a few years agohe took service with the Chicago, Peoria&- St. Louis at Springfield, 111., and from. H. OGDEN. Bowman Studio, Chicago, III. there he went with the A. T. & S. F. asgeneral foreman at Dodge City, Kan.,which position he now holds. His bright,practical ideas and conservative methodsmake him specially fit for the executivehead of the association which has justchosen him president. He is a chartermember of the organization and has al-ways been a zealous worker for the goodof the association. Mr. D. J. Redding, formerly mastermechanic of the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie,has been made assistant superintendentof that road. The position of mastermechanic has been abolished. Mr. M. F. McCarra has been appointedthe general foreman of the Kingsvillcshops of the St. Louis, Brownsville & Mexico with office at Kingsville, Texas,vice Mr. A. J. Conrad, resigned. Mr. D. Smyth, formerly car foremanon the Canadian Pacific Railroad at SwiftCurrent, Sask., has been appointed carforeman on that road at Stettl
