PlanetSolar boat construction. Photographing the PlanetSolar solar-powered boat at the end of its construction. Measuring 30 metres long and 15 metres wide, and with a covering of 500m2 of solar panels, MS Turanor PlanetSolar is the largest solar-powered boat in the world (as of 2012). It was designed by LOMOcean Design, built by Knierim Yachtbau in Kiel, Germany, and launched on 31st March 2010. In May 2012 it became the first ever solar electric vehicle to circumnavigate the globe. Photographed at the Knierim Yachtbau boatyard, Kiel, Germany, in 2009.
