Annual report of the Agricultural Experiment Station of the University of Minnesota . cows were all noticed to be slightly ailing the nextmorning, with the exception of Dell 2. This cow was downand could not be gotten up. The others showed little exceptdullness. There was no rise of temperature; no evidence ofpain or discomfort. When they attempted to walk, the gaitwas more or less irregular, resembling very much the gait ofmilk fever in its early stage. This became true of all casessooner or later, and was of course more marked in somethan in others. There had been nothing new or unusual in the care orfeed or other environments of these cattle except that for afew days and nights they had been kept in a pasture whichhad received some sewage overflow from our filter beds, byreason of recent rains. A salt box was located near thepoint where this overflow stood and the cattle unquestion-ably drank of this water. No other cattle had been in thepasture for ten days. Symptoms, First Period.—The symptoms during thefirst 24 to 36 hours were not marked except as to continued.
