Orville and his sibling Wilbur (1867 – 1912) – the “Wright Brothers” – are generally credited with inventing and building the world’s first successful airplane and making the first controlled, powered and sustained heavier than air human flight on December 17 1903 at Kitty Hawk in North Carolina. This photo of Orville is thought to have been taken by his brother Wilbur and / or Orville himself.
