Low level view from St Peter's square. One St Peter's Square, Manchester, United Kingdom. Architect: Glenn Howells Architects, 2

Manchester’s civic heart and historic St Peter’s Square has had its environs significantly improved by GHA’s competition-winning redevelopment of a tired 1970s office block. GHA was appointed as lead designer to develop proposals for a new BREEAM Excellent-rated office building set above an active retail and cultural space frontage. It completes the south side of the square providing it with a better sense of enclosure. The classical, tri-partite cast stone facade, drawn up in dialogue with English Heritage, acknowledges the portico of the Central Library opposite. Internally, the 22,500 sq ft office floor plates allow flexible cooling strategies for multiple tenants with sweeping views over the square.
