The long Picca-dilly weepers of Lord Dundreary w^ere aslightly later development, but Leechsswells all wear whiskers in the fortiesand fifties. (Is not the habit immor-talized in the mid-Victorian comic song :The Captain with his w^hiskers cast a slyglance at me ?) They wore small mou-staches, too, and occasionally the head of Moustaches for theMillion, Punch, in 1847, ironically sug-gests the placing of sham moustacheson the market for the benefit of seedybucks, swell-mobs
