Tomato plant infected with mosaic virus. Poor quality tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum) with uneven discolouration, or flame-like symptoms, caused by Pepino Mosaic Virus infection (PepMV). PepMV is a highly contagious agricultural pest causing significant destruction of plants in tomato production. Symptoms consist of distorted leaf development, mosaic, bubbling of the leaf surface and some chlorosis (loss of chlorophyll). For an image of a leaf from a tomato plant infected with PepMV see: C001/5942.
