BURUNDI'S ETHNIC STRIFE', A BURUNDIAN SOLDIER GUARDS THE BURNED OUT REMAINS OF THE KIBIMBA PETROL STATION WHERE A MASSACRE TOOK PLACE A FEW DAYS BEFORE. TUTSI SCHOOL CHILDREN WERE BURNED TO DEATH IN THE OFFICE OF THIS PETROL STATION THE DAY AFTER THE COUP, OCT 22 1993. FRIGHTENED THEY WOULD BE ATTACKED BY HUTUS THE CHILDREN WENT IN SEARCH OF ARMY PROTECTION. BUT THEY WERE CAPTURED BY HUTUS & DOUSED WITH PETROL, OVER 20 DIED IN THE FLAMES.
