Behind the scenes at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London

Jodrell laboratory Working closely with the herbarium as well as the Millennium Seed Bank, the Jodrell laboratory is the heart of research at Kew. Its 80-plus staff use the latest techniques to study biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, micromorphology and mycology of various species. Research covers the medicinal benefits of plants, plant characteristics, relationships at the molecular level and plant-animal interactions. Jodrell staff also assist government, police, forensic scientists and expert and amateur botanists in identifying plants.
