Slippers 1835–49 American Throughout the Victorian era, middle and upper class women were expected to exhibit their domestic and needleworking skills in the making of useful and attractive items. In a style typical of the period, these slippers include and appealing garland border and bouquet design, probably embroidered by family member of the man who wore them.
