As a market crop it is the best and most profitable sort we have ever known. It is of good size uniform and handsome and of the very finest quality. A hardy, robust grower and very prolific. Pkt., 10 cents; oz., 20 cents; lb., $ NEW JAPANESE CLIMBING CUCUMBER. While all Cucumbers are running vines, yet this variety is much more creeping or climbing in its habit, so much so that it quickly climbs on poles or trellises in the same manner as the Pole Lima Bean. It is entirely distinct, being much more rugged in its constitution and less susceptible to disease than the ordinary Cucumbers, and is im- mensely more prolific, each vine producing from 25 to 30 splendid Cucumbers, even on poor soil. The quality is splendid, and is pronounced by connoisseurs to be superior to the ordinary varieties of Cucumbers. It is well adapted for pickling as well as slicing for salads. Like many of our most valuable horticultural products it comes to us from Japan. Having only secured the stock of this variety last fall, we have not had an opportunity of testing it yet our- selves, but the description given above is furnished us by a most reliable seed house, and we have no doubt that it is correct in every particular.
