The map which we lay before the reader is very valuable, andsupports the view based upon Mr. Barlows map, which, like all his material, he is ever ready, mostcourteously, to place at the use of scholars. Mr. Barlow has another large and beautiful map ofabout the same date, which shows, by putting the Bay of the Holv Spirit at the mouth of the Bu-ada, that the French recognized the Spanish River of the Holy Spirit as the Mississippi. In the military services of Great Britain and of the United States, as well as inthose of other powers, the respective army regulations prescribing a uniform havegenerally included, as part of the uniform, a distinctive button for each particularregiment, corps, or arm of service.
