Beetle Larva in Ponderosa Pine


Underside of the bark from a ponderosa pine tree in Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, Arizona. This tree is infested by a variety of beetles, including mountain pine beetles, red turpentine beetles, and flathead borers. Both mountain pine beetles and red turpentine beetles are members of the genus Dendroctonus.
