07/05/2022 Gravesend UK Dunkirk Little Ship Bluebird of Chelsea passing Gravesend this morning. The yacht was built for Sir Malcolm Campbell in 1931 and original named Blue Bird. Sir Malcolm sold the boat after three years after he was warned “his death will come from water”. The motor yacht took part in the evacuation of Allied troops from Dunkirk in WWII. Sir Malcolm’s son Sir Donald Campbell CBE whom was a British speed record breaker on land and water also named his jet powered boat Bluebird.
