The Rath-bun Companys cement is known as the Starbrand, but they are now producing a qualitycalled the Silica Portland. The marl for theworks is diawn from an extensive deposit onthe line of the Bay of Quinte Railway, andthe clay from a property adjoining the the fiscal year ending June 30,1897, Canada imported210,871 barrels of Port-land cement, valued in the Trade Returns at$252,587 ; so there is yet considerable roomfor expansion in the indus ry at home.
