A fine flintlock pistol, Bongarde, Düsseldorf, 1st quarter of the 18th century. Two-stage barrel, octagonal then round after a turned girdle, with a smooth bore in 14 mm calibre, and an inlaid brass 'spider' front sight. The breech bears the gold-filled marks of Alonzo Martinez (Stöckel, no. 749 and 750). Chiselled flintlock with the signature, "BONGARDE A DÜSSELDORP".
