Thepoints of the leaves spread upwards into little tufts,and the whole upper surface of the branch has theappearance of rich green velvet. The remaining relics of this once noble forest are,certainly, the most celebrated natural monuments inthe universe; and to Masons, among the most highlyinteresting, as they were living though silent wit-nesses of the preparation by the craftsmen of Solomonof their mates and contemporaries, for supports andadornments of the wonderful Temple on MountMoriah.
