NASA recovery team and Navy divers practice attaching the floatation collar and life raft to a mock up version of the Orion next generation space capsule during an open ocean recovery test November 1, 2018 in the Pacific Ocean. NASA and the Navy has not performed open ocean recovery of a manned space capsule since the Apollo project in the 60's and are testing procedures and hardware that will be used to recover the Orion spacecraft after it splashes down in the Pacific Ocean following future deep space exploration missions.
