Husky sled dog leader. Lead dog in a sled dog team in the Arctic resting on ice. Each dog team has a strong and intelligent lead dog who the others follow. It is fed first and fed more meat. This breed of domestic dog (Canis familiaris) is used in teams to pull sledges in Arctic snow. The dogs can pull the sledge at about the pace of a running man. This is a commonly used form of transport in Arctic regions. Photographed in Greenland.
