Duck decoying in the Lincolnshire fens: the mouth of the tunnel net. Wild duck were decoyed into the mouth of a tunnel net covering a specially dug curving ditch or 'pipe1. A dog was trained to drive the birds to the far end where the net narrowed and where they were caught and their necks wrung. This was a common practice in the Lincolnshire fens and on the Norfolk Broads, and the majority of the birds were sent to the London market. 1835
