Memorial tribute at the US Army Fort Hood Bernie Beck Gate. On November 5, 2009, 13 people were killed and 30 people wounded during a killing spree allegedly by Major Nidal Malik Hasan, a US Army psychiatrist. One of the worst mass shootings ever on an American military base, the tragedy took place at a base processing center where 300 unarmed soldiers were waiting for vaccines and eye tests.
