(Smith.) nosis clear. Treatment.—Treatment should be commenced at the earliest stageof the disease, because its progress may then be checked. The generalhealth of the patient must be improved so as to increase the resistanceof the tissues to progressive tubercular invasion. Hygienic surround-ings, good diet and such medicines as cod liver oil, iron, strychnia andcompound syrup of hypophosphites are valuable. Stimulants maysometimes be beneficial. A sojourn in the country or at the seashorewill often do great good. Daily removal of the patient from the house. Fig. 260.
